Did you know a nurse pays more tax than most of the biggest energy companies in Australia, most of whom paid zero company tax in 2020-21 despite billions in income?
At a time when many are struggling to keep a roof over their heads, the Stage 3 tax cuts will hand cash back to high-income earners who need it least.
Demand the government scrap the unfair Stage 3 tax cuts and make billionaires, corporations and the rich pay their fair share of tax.
Let’s Make Tax Fair
We all want a fair economic system where everyone is able to keep a roof over their head, food on the table and have the opportunity to flourish. At Oxfam we striving for fair and equal future without the inequalities that keep people in poverty.
To ensure there is enough money in our budget to pay for the services everyone needs - like quality healthcare and education, affordable housing and a strong social safety net - we all need to pay our fair share of taxes.
Over recent decades, however, big corporations and wealthy individuals have used their power and influence to skew our economy in their favour and to pay lower taxes than the rest of us.
In fact, many billionaires, corporations and super-rich people pay little or no tax.
So what’s the new unfair tax handout heading the rich’s way now? The Stage 3 tax cuts!
At a time when many are struggling to keep a roof over their heads, the Stage 3 tax cuts will hand cash back to those who need it least. More than 50 per cent of this unfair tax cut will go to the highest 10 percent of income earners.
This handout will also benefit men twice as much as women, making it even harder for women to have a fair go.
Please sign our petition calling on the government to scrap the unfair Stage 3 tax cuts, increase taxes on the super-rich, and prioritise public services and aid programs that will reduce poverty.
We can build an economic system that doesn’t just work for the wealth few, but benefits everyone, equally.
