A civil war has been raging in Sudan for nearly two years now, and for nearly 13 million people, it became too dangerous to stay. After leaving everything they knew behind, many have now arrived at a refugee camp in South Sudan where they should be safe.
Instead, they are struggling to access clean water, sanitation facilities and other essentials, and face the very real danger of cholera and other water-borne diseases.
This is now Nadia’s reality. Her husband and two of her children were killed in Sudan. Now, she and her young son are living in a refugee camp in Renk, South Sudan.
"Life here is really hard. Sometimes if I don’t have anything, I would sell my clothes just to survive," Nadia said.
